i own a canon zr65mc digital videocamera and i hooked it up through the IEEE
1394 wire and installed all support software etc. and everything seems like
it should be working. when i try to capture from my camcorder though it says
it does not detect it. any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

Hello,

When you plug a DV camera into XP you get a musical note played to indicate
that the device has been detected...does this happen?

There is NO support software that needs installing for Firewire and XP.
What software are you referring to ?

No there was no chime actually. i meant the WIA drivers when i said software,
obviously that didnt do anything... but back to the point, there was no
chime. the computer i hooked it up to had recently been rebooted, would that
effect it?

Hello,

No Chime means bad installation of the firewire card > cable > camera.

So it sounds as though your first step would be to visit the Device Manager
and look for any error messages. Click on MY COMPUTER > MANAGE > DEVICE
MANAGER and look through the list for error reports or exclamation marks or
small cross's against any device and in particular the firewire card.
