Capture a long screen

I've tried MWSnap, but that along with others is not doing what I'd like
(or I am somehow just completely missing something obvious)
I could do with a program that will capture a screen at dimensions I
want. I did used to have one but it's the usual case .. reinstall, lost
it. Forgot the name.
Advice gratefully recieved.

You can set the dimensions in MWSnap, you know. Various ways...

Will MWSnap capture the part of the window not visible until scrolled down?
I took it that the original question was for a program to capture a LONG
screen - part of which would not be visible.
If there is such a program - I would be interested.

CopyMsgBoxText allows you to easily copy texts or screenshots of message
boxes and dialogs into the clipboard.

Useful for documentation/bug reports etc: Instead of copying a message
box (or any dialog) text by hand, simply strike a key (configurable to
your choice) - and the text is copied to the clipboard. The "Paste"
command of your editor inserts the message to your document.

You may want to take a screenshot of an application you are working with
every "N" seconds for documentation or bug reporting purposes. There is
a feature in CopyMessageBox that allows to do this. To activate the Auto
Screenshots function, click the Functions menu and select Auto
screenshots. A dialog will appear prompting you for the screenshot
interval. Click the Start button to start. To stop, click the Auto
screenshots menu item once more.

Thank you, and I have tried 1000x2000, 1024x2000 and many many others
and each time I grab, it's a simple screenshot. Daft I may be at times,
but so far with the program, it looks - from my POV - unable to grab.
Like I said though .....
- create fixed rectangle of fixed size
- click button to snap
- move to browser window
- click
- get a regular screengrab.

That's why I posted.

What screen dimension do you want to capture?

It varies :)

It's for comparing layouts that CSS produces - or not - in Firefox / IE
/ Opera. So depending on the problem presented, it could be sorted
inside a 800*600, or it could be a lot lot longer - maybe 5 screens high.
It's one of those "a picture is worth a 1000 words" type situations.

But is adware, not freeware.

Copied from the website:

The free version of 20/20 includes a modified version of our old
proprietary advertising technology. No more monthly ad rotations.
Ads appear at the bottom of the view window.

You can optionally choose to have the ads removed by registering for
a small fee. As before, the single difference between the registered
and non-registered versions, is whether or not the ads appear. All
features are enabled in both versions!

I posted this one some time ago for a similar request

If you don't mind a 30sec startup banner, this is the only one I found that
scrolls the entire screen and gives you a choice of the output from the
following supported file types: BMP, JPG, PNG, GIF (RLE compression), TIFF
(uncompressed), PCX, and TGA. I use it all the time.

CaptureNPrint (formerly Snap-It)

WebScroller - captures web pages that scroll off the bottom of your screen.
It will scroll IE 4 or above and Netscape 3 or above. I am working on a
version that will scroll any browsers or applications with scrollbars.
