I have three computers running Vista. Made the mistake of looking in the
event log on the one running Vista Ultimate 32-bit and noticed this ominous
looking error message:
http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/authrootstl.cab
A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying
against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file.
I tried downloading this cab file and put it in the User\AppData\Local\Temp
folder. I put both the .cab and the unzipped .stl versions there. I don't
think that was the correct solution?! I also turned on event recording for
CAPI2 stuff trying to find out who is the bad guy but don't recognize the
program or application. The other two machines are running Vista Home
Premium 64-bit and do not have this error in their event log. This machine
had a TV Capture card using Media Center but I removed the card and
installed it on one of the other systems. Any idea on what I have to do to
make this error go away. The MSFT Event help information is no help on this
Event. It only occurs when the system is rebooted but the CAPI2 event log
has numerous Error 82's logged but it also has a bunch of other information
events that look like at least a few thing are working!
This is from the CAPI2 Event log:
