Movie Maker 2 produces movies only in the mwv format.
The DVD burner programs I have all call for .avi and
other formats, but not the Movie Maker one. Is there a
way to convert or should I scrap Movie Maker - and if I
do, who has a recommendation for a good program that
doesn't use a format that doesn't talk to the rest of the
world?

You have the option to save to the computer from the main menu. In that menu
you have a choice of formats, one of which is AVI. When I'm finished editing
in MM2 I save in avi and then you can burn using your favorite burner
utility.

Save the finished project as a DV-AVI file.... btw movie make does not save
ANY files as MWVs! WMV file is an option... but NOT the only one.

Then get your burner software to reencode the AVI file to the correct DVD
format and burn it.

Thanks for the tip Lyle. I just about paid $50 to upgrade
my burner software so I could burn home videos that were
created using Movie Maker.
