I reloaded XP on new HDD. Fax worked fine in old setup.
Now I cannot view faxes after received. Have tried
double click, file -> view, right click -> view to no
avail. Viewer works fine for photos. Faxes will print.
Any replies appreciated.

What happens when you try?
There are many causes for this problem. Most often, this problem arises
because some other imaging application that you installed has set itself as
the default viewer for TIF files. To view faxes from the Fax Console, the
Windows Imaging and Fax viewer must be your default viewer for TIF files.
You can easily restore that setting in Windows Explorer > Folder Options.
File Types. For most users the command line should read:

"rundll32.exe <drive>:\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen %1"

Another common cause of this problem is firewall software Trojan horse
rules. The most common is one that ships with Norton Internet Security.
Details on that on are available here:

Thanks for the reply. When I try, nothing happens other
than I get an hour glass instead of a cursor for about
1/2 second. I checked thefile association setting that
you suggested and it was as you stated. I have a
hardware firewall and do not use a software firewall.
Anything else you can think of?

Nothing else known at present. You never said what your file association for
TIF files was.

Great. Path statement match?
If so, I'm chalking this up to a new, unreproduced problem for the
developers to tackle.

Can you please try opening the tiff file directly (either from the
command-line or from the explorer). The received faxes are archived at this
place
"%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\Inbox" and
tell us what you see.
