Seems like I can no longer view or print PDF files using
IE 6, but it still works fine in Netscape. I just
downloaded Adobe 6.0 and it worked for a week or two and
then quit. I have the feeling that Norton's helped out and
removed something for me.

Any suggestions out there???

Try updating or uninstalling and reinstalling the Adobe Reader and see if it
helps. Uninstall it from the Add/Remove Programs on the Start | Settings |
Control Panel. Then reinstall and update it.

PDF Display Problems

IE6 and later do not embed pdf's any more. You may get the "File download"
alert dialog when you try to open a pdf document from IE. Pressing Open will
show the pdf document in Adobe Reader, previously it was embedded within IE.
There is no way you can get around this problem as long as pdf's are
embedded within IE.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input.

I ran the Uninstall, but did a "Fix" instead of uninstall.
I then updated Adobe to 6.0.2, did a "Fix" on IE, ran
Nortons Win Doc, rebooted and tried it again.

It will now open a PDF file in a separate window (as it
should), but as soon as I close that Window I get an IE
error message that it needs to send an error report and
must restart explorer.

I guess as long as I don't need to view more than one PDF
at a time I can stumbe along. I hate to reload Adobe
completely as I only get 26.4K on my dial-up. One of the
few disadvantages of living outside the city....

It's getting closer.... Any more ideas out there??

Hi Ray :-)

Try unchecking/disabling the Autoprotect on your Norton if your have that
feature.

Also, it is possible you may also have some adware, spyware or malware that
is contributing to the problem. This is usually the case when something that
has been working for a while just suddenly causes problems. The error you
are now getting is an indication that this might be case. Download, install
and run the following programs and see if they help clear this remaining
problem.

Be sure to update the SpyBot and AdAware before running them to be sure they
have the latest definitions.

Before you try to remove spyware using any of the programs below, download a
copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:

http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html (if your OS is Win2k or
XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill your internet
connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will enable you to
regain your connection.
