Can't view pages

Just upgraded from Win98 and IE6 to XP and IE6. There are
several pages that I am unable to view in their entirety.
For example, the page from MSN with the crossword puzzle,
http://www.msnbc.com/comics/xword_class_files/crossword.as
p. The puzzle never comes up, just a box with an "x" in
it. I play crosswords daily and can't figure out what
settings or combination thereof I need to configure to
play this game.

Another favorite site with the same problem is
www.javagameplay.com None of the games will appear on my
screen, just a box with the "x" in the corner.

Have you tried any of Jim Byrd's suggestions?
