Can't view Ellis Island manifest (gif file)

I am unable to view original manifests, which I think are
sent in gif format, from the Ellis Island Database site
when I use IE6 in Windows 98, even with Norton Firewall
disabled. Instead, I get a little red x in the upper left
of the image frame.

I used to be able view these images before upgrading my
Explorer. I can view them on my laptop (which doesn't
have the firewall) using IE5 and Windows 98. A colleague
confirmed this problem on his computer. He couldn't view
the images in IE6 but could in Netscape and Mozilla. I
don't know if this is related but I also can't view pdf
files on the browser (I get a frame with a little logo in
the upper left corner).

Can someone help me? How about it, MVPs? Please copy me
directly, in addition to posting a reply on the newgroup.

I have the same problem. Before I moved, I had Internet Explorer through my
local internet provider. Since moving, I have a DSL line with SBC Yahoo.
Anyway, when I browse, in many of the boxes where "pictures" should be, all
I have are big empty boxes with little red x's in the corners. Any idea why
and what I can do to fix this? I'd appreciate whatever ideas you have on
the subject.
