My Win XP Home ed. is not allowing me to open some old
programs even after I install from original CD. Error msg
ses;
"The following occurred while attempting to verify the
maximum number of users allowed by this program.
Error Number: 5
Description: Access is Denied.
Please write this error down and refer to the
Troubleshooting guide for this product."

Problem is the program is old, for windows 95 and has no
trouble shooting guide. not even on the mfg website. It's
The Print Shop Web Site Designer and not available
anymore. They also don't have replacement disks and don't
provide email or phone support anymore. I've built a
large website using this application and REALLY REALLY
NEED IT. <snif-boo-hoo> Can anybody help?

You should be able to install cd,maybe create a new fol-
der to install to,then R.click the folder,choose,run
in 95 properties.Help/support in xp has a lot of info.
on,"getting older programs to run in xp".

You might try using compatibility mode to install the application.
Start\All Programs\Accessories\Program Compatibility Wizard.

Beyond that, you might consider setting up a dual boot system using your
previous operating system as the alternative OS. Since XP is already
installed, this will require some sort of partitioning software and a boot
manager. Partition Magic offers both in one package, www.powerquest.com.
This would allow you to continue to use your old programs although some
other functionality may be lost in the old OS as you may not have drivers
for all your hardware assuming your current system was built with XP in
mind.

You really should begin to look into new software for working with your
website as it's going to be ever more difficult to run older software as
time goes on.
