I have a problem, i want to be able to get my internal DNS server to forward requests to my isp's to allow my internal workstations to browse the net, but refer only to my internal DNS server. I've understood that forwarders where how you did this but my DNS console says i can't use them as its a root server, how would i go about getting my DNS server to reference my ISP's DNS servers?

Many thanks,

~Phill H.

you will see a . domain in you dns console. If you delete the . root you
will be able to use forwards.

What Rick says is true.

When you install DNS using DCPromo and are NOT connected to the Internet
root servers, the installation creates a ROOT domain.

Almost no one needs this domain but having it DISABLES the ability to
forward.

Remove it.
