Turned on the computer one day and both my D drive and my E drive had dissapeared from "My Computer". Both dirves appear in the divice manager with the yellow highlight. A: & C: drives work fine. Tried the hardware troubleshooter several times. No luck. Downloaded drivers from the manufacturers site and point the "Add hardware" to the folder where new driver is located on C drive. I get a message saying "No Such Path"

Hi,

Boot in safe mode and login as administrator.
Go to device manager and uninstall the DVD and CD/RW drives then shut down the PC.
Open the chassis and remove both drives.
Set the jumpers as master for the DVD rom and slave for the CD/RW drive.
Re-connect the secondary IDE cable with DVD rom as master and CD/RW drive as slave.
Re-connect the 12 volt power cables to the DVD and CD/RW then close the chassis.
Power on the PC and boot into BIOS.
Check DMA mode are enabled for both drives in the secondary IDE channel then save and exit.
Let window load XP.
Go to device manager to ensure both drives are there and are working properly.

Hope it helps.

Hi,

Download and run the script file xp_cd_dvd_fix.vbs from the web site:

http://tinyurl.com/1q09

If the site is down, try after some more time. Ignore any errors from your
antivirus and allow the script to run. It will remove the incorrect registry
entries for the drive. No need to go through the cumbersome registry
editing.

Best of luck,
