Can't use calling card for fax?

On the well-meaning but now regretted advice of my sons I "upgraded" my HP Pavilion from ME to XP. In previous life the computer (no hardware changes but I can't speak to software losses) was very helpful in setting up calling card for faxing. Now I can't get it to use calling card regardless of what tricks I've tried. I'm ready to go to Linux or Apple, I'm so mad.

Forget it. I've just figured out how to find other threads ( I guess you call them) on this topic and I see what your answer will be already. Thanks anyway. - JGB

Yeah, sorry. Can you set up a calling card using the localsystem account or
must you use a per user setting?

Wait a minute. Windows ME had no fax software at all. How is it, then, that
you lost functionality in upgrading to Windows XP?

Doesn't apply. If the calling card requires a per user setting, you can't
use Windows XP Fax.
This is the workaround that no longer works in XP Fax because it requires
the localsystem account:
