When I tried to make an account with windows mail, it came back with a
message saying it doesn't support the HTTP servers used.

Why have they made it this way?

I have Windows Live and a hotmail address and a paid version, I still get the
message that I have to set up an email account but then it says it does not
support hotmail. What do I do so that I can use hotmail?

No, Windows Live Mail is different from Windows Live Hotmail.
The latter connects only with Hotmail, while the former handles
any POP or IMAP mail account, as well as Hotmail.

Meaning WM and WLM? Yes, I often run both on my computer;
WLM as my main mail client, and WM for testing purposes only.
