Hi,

my current version of MM is 1.1.2427.1.

The other day, I ran Windows Update and found that MM2
was available for Windows XP Home. I successfully
downloaded the upgrade but always get a "failed to
install" error message on installation.

I tried this several times - no problem with the download
part but always the same issue on installation. Anyone
any idea what is going on?

Have you tried downloading the installation from
http://www.microsoft.com/moviemaker/ instead?

Hi Jorg,

It is possible that the installation fails because XP believes one of
the files to be replaced is in use. Its a problem I have come across myself.
Its very annoying especially as you know that none of the related files have
been used recently.

My solution is to re-boot the computer and immediately perform whatever
the operation was before doing anything else. This works for me perhaps 3
out of 4 times. On those occasions it does not work, its usually because I
have done something daft.

Best Wishes.....John Kelly
