Hi when I try to upgrade to Vista Beta2 I get an message that the upgrade
feature is disable and I'm only allowed to do a clean install. Thought you
were allowed to do an upgrade. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which edition of Vista are you trying to install? You cannot update from XP
Pro SP2 to Vista x64.

Also, the upgrade is only available when you start Windows first and then
insert the Vista dvd at the desktop.

Also the upgrade button is unavailable if you don't have the NTFS file system
on the XPPro partition. That problem was easily solved, of course, by
converting from FAT32 to NTFS and restarting the install. I had used
Partition Magic to create all FAT32 system partitions when XP first appeared,
wanting to be able to access XP system files using dual-booted Windows
Millennium in the event XP crashed or wouldn't boot.

Here we go with the first step, and hard to beleive obstacle in Upgrading
from WinXP SP2 to Vista. The first reason I decided to try Vista 64 was
becasue Vista is a 64 bit operating system and I can finally take full
advantage of my AMD 3800 X2. But if I can't upgrade from a winxp 32 bit OS, I
have to make a full new installation and this means I will have to reinstall
all my applications, games, i.e. waste 2-3 days doing this?
I hope there is way to upgrade frrom XP to visa 64, otherwise I have
finished testing this beta release. Too much work righ now that does not
justify installin another 32 bit OS!

There's no way to upgrade the 32-bit installation with a 64-bit install
because the installation program is 64-bit and won't run on the 32-bit OS.

I have understood that you need 9Gig of free space on ther HD to have upgrade
option enables. I tried anyway the Vista 32 bit upgrade from winxp, and many
installed applications are not compatible (Nero, RON, Alcohol120%....) and
even the Raid controller is not supported. At least Vista will analyze
carefully your system and will suggesto to uninstall the incompatible
applications, and indicate the unsupported HW periferals.
