Ola

When I try to update the program, I get a message that
says that I have no Internet connection. But I am 200%
sure that I am online.I have ADSL+XP

Ensure that Internet Explorer or Outlook Express is
working online, open IE,from the File menu, ensure
that "Work Offline is not checked.

Good luck

I think I found it. If you're running Norton Internet
Security, turn the firewall off just long enough you run
a MSAS update. At least it worked for me.

It is rather unwise and definitely not safe to turn the firewall off, even
for a short time...
Rather than that, check the firewall settings and allow MSAS processes to
access the Internet.

Incredible software from Symantec ?! ;)

Basic, MSAS must be within approved Internet programs.
"GIANTAntiSpywareMain.exe" must be approved.

Also if I query Symantec about "Microsoft Antispyware" I get
nothing...........
Symantec thinks they rule Windows as with SP2 ;(

Why use this bloaty software ?

I think I found it. The same thing happend to me. I'm
running Norton Internet Security. When I disable the
firewall, I'm able to update MSAS manually. Don't forget
to enable your firewall after you update. I hope this
helps.

There's advice in the product help file about what executables to tell your
third-party firewall to allow to connect outbound. I would expect that it
should be possible to configure NIS to allow for updating without manual
intervention, but I don't have an installation to test with, I'm afraid.

I had a similar experience with Zone Alarm and I was able to configure it
to allow MSAS processes which included getting updates. But it was headache
configuring all applications and components individually, so I just
uninstalled it and worked with XP SP2 Windows FireWall.

I use Zone Alarm (the freeware version) on at least few computers and never
experienced any problems with MSAS updates because of ZA.
