can't update radeon 9550

I can't update my radeon 9550 graphics card, everytime i try it completely unistalls it from my computer and the only way i can get it back it to do a system recovery? It's only 5 months old should i get another one> my computer is a Sony Vio 3.00 pent 4 1.5 of memory, please help, it aslo srews up when i play games
 
Try downloading latest Catalyst 5.8 drivers (from ATI's site or www.guru3d.com), install them and see how you get on.

But yes, if you can afford it, get a better one, 9550 fine for Office Aps, not so hot for gaming.
 
thanks, i wanted the g-force, but i think i would have to put in another pci slot, what is the best graphic card for online gaming???
 
The best card currently avalible is an Nvidia Geforce 7800GTX, which is PCI-E (PCI Express) compatable. There not releasing it in AGP form.


Thought there are plenty of excellent AGP cards out there, the best is probably the Ati Radeon X850XT PE, followed but the Nvidia Geforce FX 6800Ultra. There not cheap though, the X850XT PE being around £350 and the 6800Ultra about £300.

If i read your specs right, P4 3Ghz and 1.5Gig of ram, a card like the X850XT PE would make your computer a gaming monster ;).
 
i went to that website and downloaded the 5.8, i could not finsih the dowload it said INF video driver not found, what does that mean, the driver is in there???????
 
okay, thanks, i will consider that, i play conterstrike ans counterstrike source, and it freezes all the time
 
My ATI driver needs SP2 with XP and SP4 with 2000.
ATI makes good cards. The only thing I dont like is the drivers must match the model and OS with the SP.

I like the driver for Nvidia cards. One rolled into one driver works with all model of cards.
