I have win 98se and installed xp pro upgrade. I didn't
know what I was doing and did a clean installation. When
I start my computer it gives me the option to use xp or
98se. There is no uninstall option when I use xp. I want
to uninstall it and then do the upgrade so that I have
only one operating system. How do I uninstall? On another
note, why doesn't xp turn the computer off when I choose
shut down. I have to manually hit the power button or it
sits on a screen that says it is now safe to turn off
your computer. Thanks for any help.

You can't uninstall a clean installation. You have to reformat and then
install what you want.

Will I be able to reformat and keep win 98 or will it
wipe out xp and 98? I was able to upgrade win 98 to xp
with all of my old software intact and do not want to
lose it. I just want to get rid of the one that has no
software installed. Are they on separate partitions?

Do you have more than one partition? If you have more than one partition,
from My computer, check each partition for the Windows folder.
See link below if you installed XP twice to the same partition.
Click on or copy and paste the link below into your web browser address box.
I have two installations of Windows/Windows XP on the same partition.......
