I try to uninstall my msn6.2 using the remove program from control panel, but
during the uninstallation, my computer got hang up, so i need to reboot it
again, then i went ahead and remove msn6.2 from remove program at control
panel again, it doesn't allow me to remove it.
I try to reinstall the msn6.2 again, but it gave me installation error msg
1638 and ask me to download the latest msn from microsoft, but the one i am
installing is the latest version, what can i do to get my msn6.2 back? thanks
i think my computer is mixed that msn6.2 is still there or have been removed

MVP,
I already fixed this problem, i remove all the registry for msn6.2 and
reinstall it again, it works that way, but the reason that i try to remove
the msn6.2 was i couldn't log on msn6.2 properly.
It log on fine before but somehow this problem started yesterday when i try
to log on, it can log on, but as soon as i got log on, it disconnect again,
but this problem doesn't happen with other user account.

MVP, please ignore this question
i got it fixed by using repair from control panel.
it works fine now, the user log on fine as well for some reason.

If you have problems installing a new version you can
completely remove the old version by following these
steps;

[1] Go to Add/Remove Programs and remove MSN Messenger
[2] Go to C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger and delete the
entire folder, also go into the task manager and stop all
procceses for msn messenger, or it won't let you delete
the folder.
[3] Start up Registry editor by going to Start Menu ->
Run->Typing in regedit and hitting OK
Navigate to the
HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger key
and delete the entire MSNMessenger Key

I had the same type of situation, but a little different
and it worked.
