Ok, i have a brand new HP computer with wireless keyboard and mouse and for some reason i can't type the @ sign. i have had to copy and paste this one off a website. any suggestions how to fix considering another friend has this problem too.

Check your keyboard settings in control panel- XP could be in US English.

You will know if you press shift and 2.

i can't edit the settings, i went into language tools icon in control panel and it still hasn't changed, maybe i need to reboot?

this happened to me ... basically unless your settings are on English (united states) change to (united kingdom)

and my mate has a hp computer and his keyboard is all around the place so maybe its just the keyboard, he lives in the uk and hasnt evengot a £££ sign! lol ...

if all fails just shift and 2 should do the trick :)

I have no pound sign either when I do it I get # and my " and @ are swapped round as previosuly mentioned. How do I change this then is it in keyboard settings? Thought maybe it was just because it's a laptop or something

Wow, I'm very sorry to here that guys.. had no idea your keyboards would be soo much different, I had just assumed they could replace the $ with your denomination, and leave @# alone.

What Idon't understand is why do Americans insist on us having a $ sign on our keyboards yet they have no £ on theirs?

What's all that about
