Can't type double quote in query.

Can someone tell me what sequence of keystrokes I've inadvertently entered
that now prevents me from typing double quotes in (zoomed) query entry
fields? Instead, the keystroke appears to be interpreted as initiation of
some sort of 'extended character' entry sequence, requiring another few
keypresses before (nonsensical) characters finally appear.

I've gotten burned on this a few times now, and can't seem to find a keyword
that brings up anything relevant in Help. Closing and reopening the database
session clears the problem, but I'm not particularly impressed with that
solution.

You may have enter a key combination which 'change the keyborad' you use. If
so, that is a user defined setting which may be accessible, with Vista,
through the Taskbar notification area. As example, if you have switched to
an International US keyboard, to type ", you first need to type it, and
follow it by a space since the way to enter, say ë, is to type the " then
the letter e, under such setting ( ë == " + e ; " == " +
space)

Is there any way to determine the combination that would 'change the
keyboard', or better still, identify the combination that would return it to
its default setting? I'm not sure I understand where the Taskbar
'notification' area is, per se, but the keyboard icon and associated settings
located in what I know as the 'System Tray' remains unaltered.

It wouldn't surprise me if I'm hitting a strange keyboard
shortcut/combination, but I can't identify what it is, and it appears to be
specific to MSAccess (2007), because all other concurrent editor sessions
outside that environment remain unaffected, and continue to interpret
keystroke information just fine.
 
The key combination is user selectable (you have to open the keyboard
settings) .

Note that it is just one possibility that may matches what you described,
not necessary what occured in your case, though.

Now that I've reinstated the (previously disabled/hidden) Vista 'Language
Bar' and reviewed its associated Help, I've got a clearer picture on the
specifics of what you were trying to convey. One of the defined keycodes
there may indeed be at fault, so it's been removed. While I'm not sure why
MSAccess was the only session that exhibited the strange behavior when the
issue last surfaced, I do recall infrequent, but somewhat similar problems
with my Emacs editor, and the defined key sequence for switching languages
was very similar to defined editor macros that I use frequently.

I think that's likely fixed my problem - thanks for the help.
