Somehow my father turned an Auto-reply on with outlook XP for incoming emails, I have now been charged with taking this funtionality off now they have returned. There is no "out of office" option under the tools option and my father has no idea how he turned it on in the first place, as usual the office assistant is not being helpful .... can anyone help

How do you know it's turned on? That would be a clue on how to turn off.

Was machine on broadband always connectd to network during the time away?

By chance did he turn it on at the ISP mail server? Is there a Message
Rules setup?

Normally "out of office" only works with a Microsoft Exchange server.
Do you have one of those at home or at the ISP? (mostly likely not, but
had to ask).

P.S. you father is aware of the security risks assocaited with sending
out an "We're not home" email when in fact they are aren't home. Open
invite to bad guys who what to know that, and also by responding to
incoming spam this "validates" the email address as being good, which
then attracts yet more spam.
