Please help. I have a computer that will connect to the
internet but it won't surf. The only thing that keeps
displaying is "Can't open the search page." I updated the
Norton's anti-virus definitions and scanned for viruses,
none were found. I've ran Ad-aware and Spybot. Both of
them found several things that I deleted but it still
won't surf.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
Rodney Brown

If by 'cant surf' the internet you mean browse the
internet by text based web addresses then it sounds like
your PC's DNS Server information may be gone or incorrect.
Try this. On the address bar of your IE Browser type in
the IP address http://207.46.245.222 (that's
Microsoft.com) and click Go or hit Enter. If the MicroSoft
WebSite pops up then your DNS Server info is bad.
Request new info from your DHCP server or ask your System
Administrator for current static IP addresses.
Hope this helps.

Best Regards
Michael P

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).

If you can get to the site by including http://www... the you may have been
hacked by this nasty parasite.
