Newbie.
Today is 15 Aug 06.
Last week, I enabled Automatic Updates on my Windows 2000 Pro, SP4.
One of them was an IE Update.
I don't know which one, because of the nature of the process.
I was busy on the Internet.
Since then, the ability to go to a home page, or anywhere else, on IE, fails.
Any idea what is wrong and how to fix it?

Well, I went to the page and read it.
It said that a "workaround" would be to uncheck the "use http 1.1" radio
button, in the advanced options.
It said to do it from the "tools" menu, in the browser; but the browser
won't do anything except load google and yahoo buttons, and spin it's little
corner gif.
So, I did it from the desktop Launch IE right-click+properties menu.
It didn't change anything.
If that was the problem, then the workaround would handle it, wouldn't it.
IE won't load a page.
It just sits there with a "busy" cursor for as long as you want to look at it.

See Known Issues section of http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=918899.
A hotfix for one of the issues was released on 11 Aug-06:
Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 unexpectedly exits after you install the
918899 update:

Hi,

In addition: try if uninstalling Yahoo helps.

Kind regards

Hans

To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous
message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.

Are you using IE or Yahoo Browser?

Any difference if you disable both Yahoo Companion and Google Toolbar via IE
Tools > Manage add-ons? ...if you uninstall both of them then reboot?
