Can't stop Norton from scanning emails - not sending any!

As I write this email I keep having to minimise the norton antivirus box - it is scanning and trying to send the same two emails even though I'm not trying to send them. It comes up Norton A is trying to sending your email and then another one Norton is scanning your email and then an error message comes up Unable to send your mail because your mail server rejected the message 550 email appears to contain a virus" - if I knew which email I would delete it but dont and amn't sending an email. This keeps repeating over and over no matter what program I am in. Help thanks

This is a web based email service, there are others, do a search. This will allow you
to delete undesirable email off your server. Might solve your issue.

try running a full virus scan (use updated signature info) and run the
spyware/adware removers (such as Ad-Aware or SpyBot Search and Destroy).

Sounds like theres a rogue program trying to phone home
