Hello!
I'm an Austrian User of Windows Vista and just tried to upgrade my
WindowsXP(SP2) to Windows Vista.
First of all, there was no Autostart or anything similiar and when i try to
run the setup.exe on the DvD an error message pops up and says: "M:\setup.exe
isn't a Win32-Application" and I'm not able to start the installation.
Can anyone help me?

Do you have the correct DVD in your drive. If
you got the package from Microsoft, there are 2
DVD's in the pack - 1 for 32-bit and 1 for 64
bit versions of Vista. It sounds like you may
have the 64-bit DVD in your drive.

It would appear that you have tried to install the x64 version of Vista. If
you have a 64bit cpu, the only way to install would be to boot from the DVD
and do a clean install. You cannot upgrade a 32bit operating system to a
64bit operating system.

Rather than upgrade, a better scenario would be to install Vista to a
separate partition or hard drive and dual boot.
