See if you can get into Safe Mode so you can uninstall the phone or
undo whatever you did just before the system stopped working.

Sharon F said:In addition to what Malke has posted, this looks like a line from
boot.ini.
Your line points to a driver file. Normally these entries point to the
directory that Windows is installed in and not to a driver file.
If you have the tools to edit a boot.ini file from outside of Windows, you
could edit the line. On my system the line that boots XP looks like this:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT
Using Last Known Good or System Restore as Malke suggests provide possible
methods of recovery for this situation.
Malke said:Sorry for the double post - I just looked at your subject line and saw
that you can't get into Safe Mode. This is why it is a bad idea to post
the gist of your problem in the subject line; many people won't even
look at it. In any case, from the same menu as Safe Mode, try Last
Known Good Configuration.

The problem has probably been there too for several months.
Will try the system restore. Thanks.
Malke said:Do you have InCD running? Older versions of it can prevent going into
Safe Mode if you have XP SP2. The cure is to update InCD (or just get
rid of it if you don't use it).

Trevor said:Found plenty of files named InCD4 or similar but nothing of that name
in add/remove software, so has it another name that would show here?
Malke said:It's part of Nero. If you use Add/Remove for Nero, you should get the
opportunity to remove/modify the different Nero components and you can
remove InCD. Or just go to Nero's site and get updates for all of Nero
including InCD.

InCD 4 do you have?

How do I find out?
Malke said:Look, just download the latest Nero updates, including the one for InCD
and install them. That way you'll get an entry for InCD in Add/Remove
Programs and can uninstall it properly if you want to. InCD provides
packet writing for CD-RW's. If you don't use CD-RW's, then uninstall
InCD after you do the updates. Or decide whether you want it after
reading what it does in its Help files.

The InCD update is a separate download from the Nero update.
