Someone used my pc months ago, and unknown to me signed in to messenger.
Well I've never used the **!!** thing before and I have no intention of
doing so.
My problem is it keeps popping up with people trying to contact the sole
previous user.
I've tried close, exit and still it keeps coming back.
Now I've uninstalled the damn thing but still people are popping up but with
their email address followed by "conversation"
How the hell can I sign out?
I can't start a conversation with the callers as it's in Thai and I have no
idea (although my XP is English).
Any help please?
TIA
Ewan

argh yes windows messenger is a nightmare!

I seem to be having the same problem. I did some automatic updates and now windows messenger is on all the time. This means people are contacting me when I don't want to be online at all (I usually use MSN messenger when I want to be online). I've tried all sorts to get it defaulted to being off all the time. If anyone knows how to disable this thing or just delete it, I'd love to hear about it. It's worse than a virus.

Hi, you can disable the messenger feature by going to.....start> run>
MSConfig > click on start up tab> scroll to msnmgr and uncheck > then exit
and reboot system
on reboot you will see selective start up aknowledge it ..put check in the
box and close......that will stop your msnmgr from running.
as for uninstalling it you can go to start> control panel> add/remove and
remove it from there.

Thanks for your reply.
However, I ran msconfig but there was no msnmgr listed.
I had already removed Messenger in the add remove programs but this alert
"still" keeps coming up when people try to contact the previous user.
Any more ideas?
Thanks,
Ewan
