Please help! I don't know what to do.

Suddenly I cannot shutdown or restart Windows XP. When I either try to
shut down or restart the correct way or even try the incorrect way by
pressing the button on the computer tower, I get this message:

Copying
Windows is currently working with a file.
Either wait for Windows to finish or close it before you quit Windows.

I do not know what this means or how to by-pass this. These are the only
issues that I can think are new or related.

1. Last night I copied some documents to my CD/RW drive for backup. Now,
even without the CD in the drive, when I go to MY COMPUTER, that drive's
properties look like there is a CD in it, even when there isn't. If I
put another CD into the drive, it does not read it, only the one that
had the documents copied into.

2. This morning I ran Ad-Aware, as I've done many times in the past.
Then I downloaded SpyBot and ran it. I did the repair on what was found
but then I restored them when I found I couldn't shut down, thinking
(hoping) that was the problem. It wasn't, as I still couldn't shut down.

Try opening Task Mgr. and see if it tells you something is running. If so,
perhaps you can close it from there.
