I'm having a very odd problem. First of all, I have a network between
three computers all running XP Pro, and they've always worked, I just
set the same workgroup for all of them and I'm good, I've never had to
create the same accounts on all computers or whatever that entails.
It's always pretty much just been plug and play. Anyways, I just
reformatted my computer and the first thing I did was share my
printer, that worked flawlessly, and it has been working. I joined the
same workgroup of course (HOME, not MSHOME) and I could see the other
two computers and read the shared files and folders and what not.
However, when I then decided to share a folder of my own (Something
which I always used to do), none of the other two computers could
access it. They could see my computer in the workgroup but they would
get an 'access denied' error.

I read about the 'restrictanonymous' registry key which seems to work
for many and I applied it but after restarting it always resets back
to 1, the other two computers have it at 0. Keep in mind that
everything is perfect other than the fact that no one else can access
my shared folders, but I can access their's. I've even created
accounts named after the other computer's usernames (Something which
I've never had to do) and that didn't work either. At first I thought
it was zonealarm but I uninstalled it and the problem persists, could
it be that it left something behind? Should I reinstall the file and
printer sharing component? Sorry for being vague, it's pretty late and
I'm going insane over this problem. Please ask me any questions you
would need to help me out, as I would really appreciate some help.

I also noticed this in the Event Viewer, Event ID 1517 'Userenv':
