Hi there!
After re-installing Windows XP Home Ed. +SP2 and all the updates up till
now, I can't customize the wallpaper with JPEG images other than the
ones provided by Windows installation (in ..\Windows\Web\Wallpaper
folder), I'm left free to use whatever BMP img instead. This is really
boring: I've got to convert my JPEG into BMP format!!!.
Is there anybody can tell me how to solve this problem??
Thanks a lot!
Regards.

What exactly happens when you try to set a JPG as the wallpaper?

Try opening it in Internet Explorer then right-clicking it and selecting Set as Background. What happens?

I am able with WinXP Home SP2 to set any .jpg as wallpaper so your
problem is not a function specifically of WinXP or updates. Post the
exact method you are using when attempting to select a desktop image.
What are your settings for the desktop, classic, web page, something else?

Can we assume that the images you wish to use can still be viewed
correctly when you double click on them?

Place ****.jpg files in the following folder:

My Documents\My Pictures folder

You can have multiple subfolders, if you want to group the image files
themselves. But all ****.jpg will be viewable in the Desktop list for selection.
