Can't set DMA on my system's hard drives

The system registry on my Windows XP system was recently
corrupted. With the assistance of a Microsoft tech
support rep, I was able to restore an older version.
However, there are glitches now. One glitch is that I
have lost all but the first option under the Control
Panel display properties. The big one is that all my UDMA
IDE devices are now running in PIO mode. The bios is
properly reporting each drive's settings, but XP does not
want to honor them now.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

If you have an Intel chipset, go to http://www.intel.com to download
the updated Application Accelerator software.
