We have a new Athlon-based system on which we can't seem to set
the computer description. Whenever we try, a dialog comes up saying...
Cannot save new computer description
What's really odd is that we have set the srvcomment value in the parameters
for the lanmanserver service, which is where this text is maintained, but
it's not showing up when we access the field "normally."
Another behavior which may be related... If we manage My Computer,
then right-click on "Computer Management (Local)" and choose Properties,
all of the information on the General tab is blank. The only detail supplied
is the amount of RAM which is erroneously reported at "0 KB RAM." If we
access the General tab from "My Computer->Properties" the information is all
filled in as expected.
Finally, we are encountering the infamous WMI ADAP errors:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: WinMgmt
Event Category: None
Event ID: 58
Date: 12/16/2003
Time: 5:45:30 PM
User: N/A
Computer: CHE-RSBT
Description:
WMI ADAP was unable to create the Win32_Perf base class in \\.\root\cimv2: 0x80041002
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: WinMgmt
Event Category: None
Event ID: 60
Date: 12/16/2003
Time: 5:45:31 PM
User: N/A
Computer: CHE-RSBT
Description:
WMI ADAP was unable to process the performance libraries: 0x80041001
I have tried to re-synch WMI per Microsoft's Knowledge Base, but this hasn't
done any good. Again, this ma be related to the initial problem.
Any pointers as to how to correct these issues would be greatly
appreciated.
Regards,
Mike
