Hi, Jennifer.

Where (in the world) are you? We've had several reports of this problem
from users in the UK; many are using an ISP called Tiscali (which I know
nothing about). See the thread here started by "tmh uk" on 5/27/07,
Subject: can send messages but they don't arrive. There have been many
other threads with similar subject lines; perhaps one of those holds the
clue to the solution to your problem.

If you must post back, please include more information, such as the EXACT
verbatim text of your error message (copy-n-paste should work fine), plus
the name of your ISP and/or mail server(s).

Hi - this is exactly the same problem I am having - the error code I receive
is as follows:-
An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'test', Account: 'tiscali', Server:
'smtp.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554
smtp.tiscali.co.uk', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error
Number: 0x800CCC6F

I hope this helps as i have tried everything....

Check with Tiscali to see if they have a server problem.
Turn off any email scanning in your antivirus.

Jennifer,

I'm taking a guess here but try this.

Open Windows Mail. Go to Tools on the tool bar at the top of the screen.
Click on accounts. Click on your account and select properties. Choose the
server tab. Is the box with the wording "My Server requires authentication"
checked? If it is; uncheck it and see what happens. If the problem does
not improve you can always go back and check the authentication box.

Let me know what happens.
