Can't send Outlook emails with attachments

I have been unable recently to send emails on my Outlook
Express account with attachments.I used to easily send
them. Symantec would take about 10 seconds to scan 100%
of the email and then send. Now I only get 7-42% then the
message fails. My error message says that the
message "was unable to be sent because the conection to
your mail server was interupted". I contaced my mail
server and they said it wasn't their fault. I also
disabled my Norton Anti-virus and I still could not send
emails with attachments. Is it a firewall issue? Any
advice? Thanks.
