I just installed Windows Mail. I can receive email but cannot send.. the
mails just stay in the outbox. I get a message stating the smtp is not
authentic. I have checked this with the server three times now but each time
they insist it is the correct outgoing smtp ... but I still cannot send. Help
please!

Tools > Accounts > your account > Properties > Servers. Put a checkmark on "
My server requires authentication " > OK

If that does not solve he problem, post the entire error message ......
verbatim.

t-4-2

Thanks t-4-2 but it doesnt do the trick I'm afraid.

"The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing email
(smtp) server ... etc"

They insist it is!

Like I said.... post the ENTIRE error message...... verbatim.
What is your smtp server name ?

Right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

You need to read the second sentence of the reply from t-4-2, especially the
part "the entire error message ...... verbatim". Be sure to ensure that you
get all of the error message, none of that "etc." stuff. Be sure to ensure
it is accurate, exactly as it comes from Windows Mail. The best way to
ensure all that is to copy and paste the message.

Yes, you should always copy / paste the entire error message to maximize
assistance, however . . . . . .

In addition to checking the "My server requires authentication" box on the
Servers tab, click on the "Settings" button beside it and fill in the "Login
using" email address (you are not "required" to use the "remember password"
part and DO NOT check the "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" on
that specific Settings setup).

If that doesn't fix it, please do include that full error message for
further help.
