I've read all the other problems everyone else is also having with this and
even downloaded the tool suggested from Steve Cochran.

I try to send mail and get the following message:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'testing', Account:
'mail.comporium.net', Server: 'smtp.comporium.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I called my ISP and they advised the problem did not lie with them.

I don't know what to do....please help!

Can you even make contact with the SMTP server using Telnet?

Go to the Command Prompt and issue the command in the link using the
supposed SMTP server name. If it's not 'mail.comporium.net', then call the
ISP to find out for sure but you can try the one in the massage above on
port *25*.

If it doesn't comeback with the 220 message, then the port is not 25 the
standard SMTP port, some ISP's use a different port number. My ISP uses port
587, as an example. Or there is something else wrong.

If you get the 220 message, then you know there is a mis-configuration with
the email client program, like setting it to give a user-id and psw for SMTP
when none is needed or the SMTP needs a user-id and psw that is not given or
may be wrong.

You should test the SMTP - outgoing mail connection first.

You can do the same thing with the POP3 incoming mail, which is always on
port 110.

The problem seems to be Port 25. I do not know which port is needed for SMTP by comporium.net'. Your ISP might know. Check back with them again
