I can receive but cannot send emails using outlook express. The following
error box appears
Account: 'pop.freeuknet', Server: 'relay.freeuk.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I have tried ticking and unticking the outgoing server requires
authorisation box

I didnt say the email was working fine until we just moved house. Can anyone
help, please dont say the pc doesnt like the wallpaper.

Who provides your Internet connection service in the new house?
If that is someone other than FreeUK, then your current provider has
a port 25 block against 'foreign' SMTP servers. The best solution is
to substitute the SMTP server belonging to your current ISP. If you need
help with that, let us know who your ISP is.

Thanks Gary
We moved to Paris fron the uk and I think Orange is the ISP here. How do I
substitute the SMTP, I'm not brille at these things I'm afraid

Did Orange.fr give you an email address and login? You will need that.

Here are the steps to take:

1. In Windows Mail go to Tools, Accounts, select your Freeuk mail account,
click Properties, Servers. Change the name of the outgoing (SMTP)
server to smtp.orange.fr. Do not change the incoming server. Also,
make sure that the "My server requires authentication" option is checked.
Click the adjacent "Settings" button. Select "Log on using"
then enter your @orange.fr email address, and the associated
password. Click OK.

2. Try sending. If you get an error message, go back and uncheck the
"My server requires authentication" option.

Does that mean I have to change my email address. We are renting an
appartment for 1 year and all internet access etc was up and running, we
cannot alter anything here. The internet is billed to the landlord and I have
no contact with orange fr. It would be difficult to change email addresses.
Any suggestions

No, don't change your email address. Change only what I told you to
change. Everything else in your Freeuk account remain the same,
including your From address. You may not even need the @orange.fr
email address for SMTP authentication. Because of my limited
knowledge of French, I had trouble deciphering the instructions on the
Orange.fr support page. Try changing only the SMTP server name,
leaving everything else the same.

I tried what you said and it might be me but it didnt seem to work in this
case, but it was worth a go, thanks anyway

Thanks Gary point taken
I changed the smpt and checked the my server requires authentication box but
no joy. Does that mean I need an @orange fr email adress and if so how do I
get one

Gary
I just did as you said and unticked the authentication box and guess what,
it sent and you are a top bloke thanks a million
Best wishes
Simon
