Can't send emails

I've been sending emails just fine for months, but now I get the following
message:
subject 'test', account ' pop-server.triad.rr.com', server: '
smtp-server.triad.rr.com', protocol: smtp, port 25, secure (SSL): no, error
number 0x800ccc15

ISP is Time Warner Cable, Road Runner.
 
there's usually a little more to the error message...
right-click on it, select Copy, then paste it into a reply here.
 
The first message I receive is Your SMTP server has not responded in 60
seconds. Would you like to wait another 60 seconds for server to respond?
Account : pop-server.triad.rr.com
Server: smtp-server.triad.rr.com

Then I get the message I wrote earlier. Thanks.
 
That problem is usually caused by interference from an
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

Our anitvirus is Norton and the scanning is turned off for outgoing mail.
This has not solved the problem. We've only had the Norton for a few months,
but is this a common problem with Norton? Do we need to buy a different
anitvirus program?
 
Norton security products are among the top three troublemakers
for Windows Mail. Symptoms often don't surface until several months have
gone by, or until an update occurs.

Several users have reported here that Symantec will give you a free
upgrade to Norton Antivirus 2009, which cures the problem. If interested,
contact Symantec via online chat.

Disabling the Norton program is often insufficient. Do a trial uninstall,
followed by using their debris removal tool:

Instead of uninstalling your antivirus, another option is to upgrade to
Windows Live Mail, which is more resistant to the adverse effects of overly

Looks like it's trying to use SSL on your authentication settings.

I have RoadRunner too and use the smtp-server.triad.rr.com.

You don't need to use SSL to authenticate with their email server.
 
In Windows Mail, go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
then uncheck the SSL option.
 
It is already unchecked, so that's not the cause. By the way, I tried
uninstalling my Norton antivirus and then tried to send emails, and I am
still unable to send. Therefore, I assume it's not the antivirus. I also
tried my ISP again and I am able to send/receive from webmail with no
problems. It seems to be only occuring in Windows Mail. Any other
suggestions? Thanks.
 
First of all, that's not the verbatim error message. I can't be
sure if the errors I see are your typos or actual setting errors.
For example, the mail server name "124.254.7280" definitely is wrong.
Right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
 
Your SMTP server has not responded in 120 seconds. Would you like to wait
another 120 seconds for the server to respond?

Then after I choose "stop", I get,
