I was looking at the previous posts and most of the others that can't send
emails usually either have their emails scanned by Norton or have an email
stuck.

I have the Windows Live OneCare anti viral software and according to their
help doesn't scan the email messages. I am getting the following error
message

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject '', Account: 'pop.earthlink.net', Server:
'smtpauth.earthlink.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0F

I have restarted the computer and looked at all of the settings and it all
seems to be correct??? I was able to send and recieve messages in the past.
Please help.
Thank you!
Melissa

Do you have the SPA box checked? Is the password and ID there correct? Can
you get web mail from Earthlink?

Did you check the box under Outgoing that "My server requires
authentication"?

Do you have "My server requires authentication" checked? It
should be. However, the error message does not suggest that
this is the problem. I don't see an obvious reason for the failure,
other than it acts like interference from an antivirus.

Try deleting the account, then recreate it from scratch.

I do have the "my server requires authentication" checked. I can send emails
from web mail. I have deleted and recreated the account with no luck. I get
the same exact error message.

Get rid of Norton& symantec, use avg free anti virus.Norton takes over your
pc,which is not good.Go to control panel, click add andn remove programs and
delete Norton & Symantec. Then do a search for norton &symantec to make sure
they are gone. Then go online, search for "free avg."

Hi Jerry, I don't have Norton and I don't know what symantec is. We have
Windows LiveOne.

Again under servers, make sure "Li\ogon using Secure Password
Authentication" is NOT checked.

Good luck, and if you need more help you know where to find us.

The server error response would be quite different with an unwanted SPA.
