can't send emails from web

how come I can't send e-mails by responding to a web - email address. It
simply doesn't send.
I use gmail. What am I supposed to do. Have onlyt basic knowledge of IT

Ensure that WM has all its defaults set.
Start menu or Control Panel>Default Programs>set program defaults>wait for
list to populate>select WM>set as default.
 
Try this too . . . . . Go to Start - Default Programs - "Set Program Access
and Computer Defaults"
(last option) - See little "double-down" arrows to the far right of
"Custom" - click that. There I have "Use my current. . . . ", and, checked
the box "Enable access . . . ".
