I've not changed any settings on my email account and have had no past
problems with my email account that I've had for several years. I still have
no problem receiving mail or with sending email including email with
attachments, but I can't send email with photos, cartoons, etc. that are
embedded in the content of the message. When I attempt to forward a message
of this type, I get this resposnse:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Too good to pass
up!!!', Account: 'mail.charter.net', Server: 'mail.charter.net', Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.5.0 <[email protected]> '@' or '.' expected
after 'Fighting_'', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error
Number: 0x800CCC79

For security purposes, I've changed the email address my message was
intended for, otherwise I've just cut and pasted the error message.

Thanks for the help.

Key part of your error message is:
'@' or '.' expected > after 'Fighting_
Since you camouflaged the actual email address with X's (that's okay - you
really should do that in these posts) we can't tell exactly what is wrong
with the e-address, but there is something wrong with it. Look at the
original address and after Fighting_ what is the next character? You
may have an illegal character, and there are some emails that consider the
"_" to be illegal. Can you send to others? Is this the only one having
this issue?

So where is it getting the word "Fighting_'' from?

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems
with attachments in Windows Mail. Make sure your antivirus is
not configured to scan emails.

Unfortunately, the error message suggests that the format of the email
address you munged in your post was the problem:

<QP>
<[email protected]> '@' or '.' expected after 'Fighting_'
</QP>

IOW the address might have been '(e-mail address removed)' when it should have
been '(e-mail address removed)', or 'Fighting_isp.com' versus
'(e-mail address removed)'.
