Can't send email with attachments

Task 'SMTP server name - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x80042109):
'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you
continue to receive this message, contact the server administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).'

I continue to receive email but cannot send. Seems to be only with
attachments of 5MB or greater (which the ISP says it should be able to
handle). ISP says all is correct? Trend Micro says they've done all they can,
and referred me to Microsoft...help!
 
Are you scanning your outgoing emails with the Trend Anti Virus scanner by any
chance
 
Hi Peter,

No, I'm not scanning manually. Maybe the program does this automatically...?
The tech support at Trend micro walked me through what she thought the
problem could be, but it didn't seem to make any difference.
