What error message does he get?

the error is:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'testing;
account:'pop.east.cox.net; server:'smtp.east.net; Protocol:smtp;Port25;
secure(SSL):no, socket erro:10060,ERROR Number:OX800ccc0E

I don't know, but I'll bet the server should be smtp.east.cox.net - also
check that they want him to use port 25 and whether or not the server
requires authentication.

He has the outgoing server name wrong.
It should be smtp.east.cox.net instead of smtp.east.net.

Frank - thank you so much - never thought to check to make sure all the
information was entered correctly!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

You're welcome, but you practically provided the resolution
yourself by including a verbatim copy of the error. If only
all help seekers did that...
