Can't Send e-mails

I'm using Outlook 2003 (11.5608.6568). When I try to sen an e-mail, I get
the following message:
Task 'mail.i2k.com - Sending' reported error (0x8004210B) : 'The operation
timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server. If you
continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).'
~
I contacted my ISP and they say that it's an Outlook problem. Everything
looks OK at their end. I re-installed Office, but htis made no difference.
I'm using Windows XP Professional Service pack 2. Outlook has been working
fine for months. This is a recent problem.
~
Any suggestions?

If you test account settings, does it report an error there also? Do you
have your authentication settings correct? What is your default
send/receive interval? It should be no less than 10 minutes.

Disable outbound e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program.

I have the same problem with sending email using Outlook. Whe I use the test
account settings, my test email works without any problems. I am also using
Windows Live OneCare. this problem is new, within the last 5 - 7 days. My
internet provider is Comcast.
