Can't send e-mail

We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.
 
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Re: love',
Account: 'Gmail', Server: 'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response:
'530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. 5sm2149245eyf.9', Port: 587,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 530, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Your settings are way off.
Here is the link for gmail account settings.

To summarize :
1. Tools > Accounts > your gmail acct > Properties > Servers. Under
Out-going Mail Server, put a checkmark on " My server requires
authentication "
2. Tools > Accounts > your gmail acct > Properties > Advanced. .......
a.) change smtp port # to 465 NOT 587
b.) put a checkmark on " This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
