2 possibilities

(1) Your outgoing port25 could be blocked by your ISP (wanadoo). Call them and ask which port number is to be used for your SMTP outgoing server.
(2) your Anti Virus email scanning for your incoming and outgoing emails can also cause this issue. Disable your AV incoming and outgoing scanning feature and test.

Hi Gary yes i am using a laptop. Forgot to mention it's new with windows
vista, yes i am home when using through wireless broadband connection. Used
to have dial up. Disabled AVG e-mail scanner but to no avail. Do you
recognise this error message??
Thanks for your interest.

When I try to get to wanadoo.co.uk I get redirected to orange.co.uk, perhaps
they changed the name while you wern't looking?

Michael

Hi michael sorry for delay, my account was originally freeserve, then wanadoo
and now orange. Thanks for answering and looking but not sure if it's of any
help. On each each occassion mail would still be redirected. I can recieve
mail but can not send, people that send mail use my wanadoo account. Have
just tried windows vista easy transfer, not so easy, although it brought e
mail account across it also brought the settings with, just had to do system
restore because icould not close windows mail, it kept restarting. Thanks
again mate.

To make sure that it is not your DNS server screwing up:

Do a ping (from cmd window) on smtp.wanadoo.co.uk,

On my machine it resolves to 193.252.22.187, it should resolve to same or
very similar address. (the ping itself fails as the host has probably got
that blocked).

You might also glean some information for a log of the connection attempt.

followup: It is not obvious (to me at least) where that log file is.
C:\users\accountname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows mail\pop3.log

(note AppData does not normally show, enable hidden/system files)

Normally the problem with sending from a laptop has to do with using
an Internet provider other than your home ISP. Is Wanadoo your
home ISP, and/or is 'smtp.wanadoo.co.uk' the server name authorized
by your home ISP?

I'm actually having the same problem only I have no problem sending emails
from my lap top at home but whenever I'm on the road all of my emails get
stuck in my outbox. I get a similar message except I am using
webmail.optonline.net. Any advice?

Jen, don't assume your problem is the same as someone else's.
Please right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it into a
reply here.

I'm at home right now so I'm not getting the error message. After reading a
little further, I don't believe I will be able to fix this. Tomorrow, I will
be off the optonline network and if I run into the error again, I will post
it with the error message.

Hey Guy,s English Jim here. I have found the answer to not being able to send
e-mail. I Stated at the begining that i had very little knowledge on or about
computers so thanks for helping..... My service provider had changed but
allowed me to recieve e-mail on my existing account but not use it via
another hoast. Set up new e-mail account with new provider and run new e-mail
account alongside old. Thanks again for your help.
