Can't send; can't find server

When I try to send out an e-mail with my outlook express it reads error#
0x800ccc0F and says it cannot find the server. Does anyone know how to
resolve this? At the risk of sounding retarded, my ISP is comcast and that
e-mail works just fine; I would just like it if everything went through them.
Why am I forced to use outlook express - can I change this?

What PC, network cards, router, modem do you have? Are you wireless? What
OS are you running, what service pack?

Would love to help but am not psychic...

Hi - thanks for the quick response - I am one of the computer illiterati. I
am using a 1992 dell pc with a cable modem. I have Windows XP on it. I
don't know what a service pack is or a router or a network card? I can find
out and get back to you on it or if you feel like telling me what and where
they are, I'll respond accordingly. If it's possible, with the information I
just gave, to give me a simple beginning strategy to start working on this
that'd be great too. I just read through a bunch of postings and can see
that this type of problem can open up quite a rat's nest of technical
considerations - why is this so complicated - I mean it's awfully complex
for the average Joe six pack who just got a computer and wants to be able to
e-mail his buddies?

When you tell your email client to "Send" it transfers the email to an
SMTP server. Someplace in the options settings of your client is a
slot for you to provide the name of this server. Your ISP should
provide you with this name.

Yes, absolutely. You can use any email client you want. You can also
use a webmail service and have no email client on your machine at all.

Here's an excellent, free email client: www.pmail.com

Hi--thanks for your helpful message. I actually managed to tool around and
fix it myself. I had to delete some other servers that were under settings
and put the one from comcast in which I got from them. However, now I have
another problem, I tried to send a photo filled e-mail to a friend and
Outlook had an error message of 0x800CC79 with server error 553. It also
said "that that domain was not in my list of allowed rcpthosts" When
refering to domain, it appears that they are referencing my friend's e-mail
address? Have you any ideas on this conundrum? When will these pesky error
messages stop?
