Can't send attachments

For no apparent reason I can find, about a week ago I
stopped being able to send attachments. I have 3 systems,
a laptop running XP home, a desktop running XP Pro, and a
desktop running 2000 Pro. All run Outlook 2000. They are
all connected to a cable modem though a Microsoft router.
All emails without attachments work fine. I can receive
attachments. Disabling all virus and firewall protection
makes no difference. All 3 worked fine and now don't. It's
the same whether word is my editor or not. Plain text or
HTML, the same. 3 different mail servers, all time out,
regardless of the size or type of file attached. I am so
stumped. Any help would be greatly apperciated.
Thanks
Bob

See http://help.stargate.net/broadband/mtu.shtml for information on the
problem.

The MTU settings are a problem with a number of routers:
