Can't select Broadcast Standard on TV setup with AIW Radeon

Hi, I'm having a problem with my All-in-wonder Radeon. Although the graphics
card bit is working fine, I thought I'd try the TV functionality of it the
other day, so I ran the TV app from the ATI icon in the taskbar tray, and it
launched the wizard that's supposed to tune in channels.

The problem is, on the page where you select Cable or Antenna, there's a
drop-down box where you're supposed to select PAL, NTSC or SECAM as
applicable to where you are. My problem is that this box is completely
blank - there are no items in the list and so I can't continue with the
wizard and hence can't watch TV.

I've tried both the version of the drivers/utilities that came with the card
(7.0) and the version on the website (7.7) and both seem to have this
problem. I've used the card before I reinstalled Windows, and the TV used to
work then, so I'm not sure what's causing it as it's the same version of
Windows, just a fresh install.

I'm using Windows 2000 and DirectX 9.1.

Thanks,
Alan

Known problem with DirectX 9.0b (M$ haven't issued 9.1 yet AFAIK..?) & PAL
AIW cards.

IT's an M$ problem with a DX 9.0b file 'kstvtune.ax' - there's a workaround
that worked for me and many others detailed in the thread at;

http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthr...e7b&threadid=33700362&perpage=20&pagenumber=1

ie. Search all instances of 'kstvtune.ax' and replace them all with an older
version from DX9.0a or DX8.1, the one in 'LastGood' should work - the DX9.0b
file is 268KB and the one I used (from DX8.1a) is 55KB dated 17/08/2001- I
didn't bother replacing the one in "RegisteredPackages" & it works okay.

We've been awaiting a fix from M$ for quite some time now...

Ciao...

I ran on the exact same problem yesterday trying to update the "thing".

Thanks for the answer and the newsgroupe invention.
